When it comes to releasing new music, Ariana Grande is particularly prolific. Her latest single, "Boyfriend," is an anthem for anyone who's ever crushed on a close friend, and its music video is hilarious.
The catchy track sees Grande reuniting with her longtime collaborators, Social House, and focuses on the moment one realizes they're a little more invested in a so-called platonic relationship than they'd like to admit. The relatable song begins with the lyrics, "I'm a motherf*ckin' train wreck," which the world is guaranteed to be chanting in unison by summer's end.
In the first verse, Grande pines, "And I might not be the one for you / But you ain't about to have no boo." If you've ever suppressed romantic feelings for somebody and felt jealous as soon as they started flirting with someone else, "Boyfriend" is for you.
It's not just the lyrics to "Boyfriend" that are perfection. In the music video, Grande destroys any romantic liaisons the members of Social House have.
In one particular fantasy, the "7 rings" singer takes a bow and arrow and shoots a woman who's talking to her "friend." Woman is not about to let anyone else date the person she's most definitely not into.
