Found at the graveyard in the Cathedral of the Deep.

From the Cleansing Chapel, make way into the graveyard and proceed in the general straightforward direction until reaching the other end. A small enclosed area with several corpses and some loot can be found, one of which is the sword. Upon picking it up, however, the corpses, some of which are infested, will come to life and ambush the player.

Characteristics[]

Despite its relatively mundane appearance, the Executioner's Greatsword possesses several quirks that can make it a strong asset in one's arsenal.

Possessing the same moveset as the Bastard Sword, the Executioner's Greatsword also has the advantage of inflicting purely strike damage with its attacks, which is typically resisted very poorly by the vast majority of all armor sets in the game. As well, it scales very well with Strength, further augmenting its ability to deal tremendous amounts of damage against opponents. It is also only one of two greatsword-class weapons that possess the Stomp (disambiguation) weapon art, the other being the Bastard Sword, which gives it some very useful Hyper Armor options.

Perhaps its most unique characteristic is that for every enemy that dies, the wielder gains 6 FP. This can be useful for fueling the use of the weapon's skill, or even for casting spells on specialized builds. It is particularly useful in PvP, as there is no requirement that the wielder use the weapon to kill enemies in order to replenish FP, or that the wielder even has to be the one to obtain the kill. This is very useful since non-host players can recover FP without having to allot Ashen Estus Flasks, allowing them to utilize more standard Estus, and invaders can recover FP by profiting off of the work of a host's party.
