Develop a strong bowman with this build guide to the advanced archer class that specialises in catching bugs and obtaining high levels of movement speed that can be converted into damage. Given their specialisation in the World 2 catching skill they should be your first Archer advancement to ensure you have access to the unique bugs required for crafting and alchemy.
In this build guide to the Bowman class I cover the common speed based talent path to maximise your AFK combat gains and skilling talents for catching efficiency. These talent templates and detailed explanations are based on my thousands of Idleon gameplay hours and should be combined with my Archer builds and other Idleon builds page.

Idleon Bowman Damage Build Guide
The primary damage build for the Bowman requires players to hit key movement speed milestones for the SpeeDNA talent which coverts this movement speed into damage. This is highly effective as players can also stack potions and farm statues as they progress through Idleon to push movement speed to incredibly fast levels.
The priority order for Bowman talents that I recommend is:
Talent | Effect | Notes |
---|---|---|
Homing Arrows | Fires arrows into the air which seek out monsters and deal damage | The best of your new attacking talents this can be useful for your active needs like bossing and also boost AFK gains when assigned to your attack bar. 50 talent points should be invested here to maximise the benefit of AFK gains and can be maxed later after maxing other talents listed here. |
Magic Shortbow | Magic shortbows fire at your target dealing damage | A secondary active talent that has the same benefits as Homing Arrows above and I recommend aiming for 50 points initially as well. |
SpeeDNA | +% Damage for every 15% movement speed above 100% | The biggest damage source for the Bowman this increases in potency as our account movement speed bonuses grow and should be maxed. |
Shwifty Statues | Speed, Anvil and Ol Reliable statues give +% larger bonus | Boosting the benefit of movement speed statues this feeds into SpeeDNA above while also having the side benefit of improving our anvil speed statues to acquire materials faster. |
Velocity Vessels | Each level of Archer or Bust bubble raises max level of Featherweight | As your alchemy progresses and the levels of your first green bubble (Archer or Bust) increase players can invest in this talent to get more levels from Featherweight in your first talent tab. |
AGI Again | + Max talent level for Quickness Boots | Agility is a secondary damage booster to movement speed for the Bowman that makes this a priority after exhausting our movement speed boosts. |
Previous Points | + Talent points for the Archer talent tab | If players need extra talent points to maximise the benefit of AGI Again this can be used to obtain them but should be ignored if you have sufficient talent points. |
Shoeful Of Obol | Obols give +% more AGI | Providing a small source of agility from your obols this is our last opportunity to gain a direct damage boost. |
Woah, That Was Fast! | All attack talent cooldowns are % lower | A quality of life talent that allows your attacks to come off cooldown faster and is particularly strong when you make the next elite class advancement to Siege Breaker as they have a number of attack talents that benefit from active play. |
Idleon Bowman Catching Build Guide
As a second preset option the Bowman will want to run a catching build to catch flies, butterflies, fruitflies and beyond. There are only a small number of Bowman talents that impact catching and players should combine this with their smithing talent preset while making sure that Elusive Efficiency is maxed.
The priority Bowman talents for catching AFK gains are:
Talent | Effect | Notes |
---|---|---|
Sunset On The Hives | +% Away gains for catching | Increasing your AFK catching gains is the clear first choice to improve the returns of your time spent catching bugs. |
Teleki’net’ic Logs | +% Catching efficiency for every power of 10 Oak Logs in storage | Oak Logs are easy to acquire early game so players can stack 10k without too much trouble that will 4x the catching efficiency number you see on screen from this talent. With higher efficiency you will set yourself up to reach the minimum requirements for bugs deep into World 2 and beyond. |
Bug Enthusiast | +% Catching experience | Catching experience doesn’t directly improve your bug gains but faster experience gain will unlock new catching nets sooner that provide a notable improvement. Without these higher tier catching nets it can be difficult to reach the required thresholds for tougher bug types. |
Shwifty Statues | Speed, Anvil and Ol Reliable statues give +% larger bonus | Improving the benefit of Ol Reliable statues players can acquire some additional catching power with early statue levels easy to acquire. |
Briar Patch Runner | Agility has a +% larger effect on catching efficiency | The lowest impact of all catching specific talents although does improve in time as we reach high levels of agility towards late game Idleon progress. |
AGI Again | + Max talent level for Quickness Boots | With agility boosting catching efficiency this is the final notable source of potential gains for Bowman skilling. Any extra points from this point onwards can be invested into Shoeful Of Obol or Previous Points if required. |
