Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (15 ounce) can manwich sauce
- 2 (8 ounce) cans crescent roll dough
- 4 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese divided
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Spray a 9 x 13 inch pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
In a frying pan, brown ground beef. When it is cooked all the way through, drain the grease and add the Manwich. Cook until it simmers.
Open one package of the crescent rolls. Unroll it and place it in the bottom of your sprayed pan. Spread it out with your hands until it covers the whole bottom of the pan.
Take half the mozzarella cheese (2 cups) and sprinkle it on the dough evenly.
Carefully pour all of the Manwich mixture over top of the cheese. Spread it out with a spoon evenly.
Sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella cheese (2 cups) on top of the Manwich mixture.
Open the second package of crescent rolls and unroll it. Place it on your table top and press it together the best you can. You can press in on parchment paper if it is easier for you. Carefully pick up the pressed crescent rolls and put them over your cheese. It doesn't have to fit perfectly, you just want it to cover the majority of the top.
Place in the oven and cook for about 10 to 12 minutes, or until crescents are golden brown.

Pearl says:
Does the dough get soggy on the bottom? And what about the top, does it soggy too? I just don't want to get disappointed when I try making this recipe. Thanks

Stephanie says:
I make this only as a pizza casserole. Works best if you cook the bottom layer first while frying the meat. About 8 minutes. Than add your ingredients, then the top and bake. Then the bottom layer will for sure cook through and won't be soggy. So good!!

I tried this tonite and 350 was just not hot enough. The roll tube says 375. After 12min., and the dough not cooked, I bumped the heat up and baked another 8min.I used beef, added a chopped red pepper and broccoli along w/ the meat; added Italian herbs and dried minced garlic while browning. Also, I used Bold Manwich. It was good, but I think it could use more herbs. I also want to try it w/ cheddar cheese.

This has been a family favorite for years - made pretty much the same way with the following changes: add onion to taste, instead of Manwich use one 15 oz can tomato sauce, 1 pkg sloppy joe seasoning, 1-1/2 c shredded cheddar cheese and 1-1/2 c shredded mozzarella cheese and one can of corn (drained). Layer the same way: crescent rolls, meat w/sauce and seasonings, corn, cheese and 2nd crescent roll. bake 30 minutes at 350.

Probably any refrigerated biscuit dough, stretched thin, would work. Or biscuit mix placed on top every 2-3 inches.

But our biscuits.. Not your biscuits. Lol chocolate chip wouldn't go well with this :p

Cheryl says:
I made this recipe the other night and as the recipe is written is was inedible, the crescent rolls were soggy!

Angie says:
The bottom dough needed much longer to cook than 12 minutes. I cooked an additional 10 min but I would recommend pre-baking the bottom layer first. I used beef and made my own sauce. Other than taking longer to cook it was tasty.

This is a family favourite. I switch it up a bit by putting a thick layer of precooked cabbage and mashed potatoes and cheese. Its sooooo good!!
